AUTONOMOUS UNIVERSITY OF NUEVO LEÓN
The Autonomous University of Nuevo León is an autonomous institution with full legal capacity, whose objective is to create, preserve and promote culture for the benefit of society, and whose mission is to train high school graduates, technicians and professionals, in addition to University professors and researchers capable of working in an efficient manner within the society of knowledge; committed to the sustainable, economic, scientific, technological an cultural development of all humanity. In addition, the University aims to promote artistic creation in all its various forms of expression, encourages community involvement in the sphere of culture and contributes to the preservation of our national and international heritage and culture.
UANL is comprised of 26 faculties, distributed throughout the State of Nuevo León. Its main campus is located in the City of San Nicolás de los Garza. The University has a total of 113,371 students in its educational programmes, which include high school education, a bilingual high school, an advanced binational high school and a bivalent high school in bilingual education. In addition, the University offers 35 kinds of technical high school programmes and 11 advanced technical degrees. With respect to higher education, it offers 81 bachelor’s programmes, and, with respect to graduate education, it offers 64 advanced training programmes, 67 master’s degrees and 25 doctorates.
In summary, the University has 51 programmes included in CIEES’s Level 1 classification register, and 21 of its programmes are certified by one of COPAES’s organs. The University’s faculty is comprised of 1,784 full-time professors, 77% of whom have completed graduate studies.
