WESTERN UNIVERSITY OF SINALOA

Located on the north-western coast of the Pacific, the Western University of Sinaloa is a state organ with legal capacity and heritage. It is the second most important institution in the State of Sonaloa, considering its student population, but it is the institution with the largest number of students enrolled in high quality educational programmes. Founded 25 years ago, the University has 5 units in the State of Sinaloa operating under the Comprehensive Development Educational Model, whose approach focuses on the students’ learning and involves promoting the development of enterprising people and human development, as well as improving communicative processes through Spanish writing practice and compulsory English.

At present, the University has a student population of 9,799. It offers 43 educational programmes: 36 bachelor’s degrees, 5 master’s programmes and 1 doctorate. 24 of the University’s bachelor’s degrees are included in CIEES’s Level 1 classification register; similarly, 13 bachelor’s programmes are accredited by organs of COPAES. The University’s faculty is comprised of 120 full-time professors, 53.3% of whom have completed graduate studies.
